About this item

This listing is for an Antique Sugar Sifter - Quite likely to be made of Silver Plate - ideal for Collectors Small,Shallow,Circular Pierced Bowl with decorative Floral/Starburst Sifting feature its relatively long handle is characteristic or a Sifter Spoon. I know next to nothing of this - information which will become obvious to you if you are a Collectors of Sifting Spoons (as I originally purchased it online as a Tea Straining Spoon - only to find myself being splashed with Hot Water & Tea Leaves)!!🙄🤣 These apparently were made specifically for sifting fine sugar over Tea, Fruit Puddings & Desserts - or it could be from the family of Spoons that I guess they could be used for draining small preserved fruits, berries or Olives. I'm told that this is quite likely to be of European origin with Handle being finish with Ball-like feature. In need of a good polish & I would draw your attention to the Handle - As I have explained - I am no expert on such & Sifter Spoons may have required an angle to their handles - side on - this handle looks graceful - but I fancy straight on - it looks as though it has or has, had a kink/bend in it - as it doesn't look completely true - as I say, this may or may not be a deciding factor in purchasing - but I would rather draw your attention to this before buying. Really pretty little addition to anyones collection - but its sitting on my kitchen shelf - not being used for the purpose it was originally bought for!!
