This listing is for a highly sought after, rare Vintage Biscuit Tin from around the mid 1960's. The brightly coloured lithographed lid depicts the classic characters from the beloved BBC Children TV Series - Camberwick Green. Features images of the famous puppets produced by Gordon Murray (Puppets) Ltd Lid features many of the Camberwick Green cast gathered outside of the Post Office - PC McGarry (Policeman) holding a football, Peter Hazel (Postman) Mrs Honeyman, with Paddy Murphy (little boy), with Captain Snort (sat on the ground) & possibly Packet (the dog eagerly waiting for the Ball)! Lid still fits firmly to base. Sides feature images of Mr Carraway (Fishmonger), Mary Murphy (Mickey's daughter), Mickey Murphy (Baker) Dr.Mopp & of course - the infamous Windy Miller. There is also an image on one side of Soldier Boys from Pippin Fort - I believe one to be Sergeant Major Grout - cant determine who the others are out of Private Armitage, Featherby, Higgins, Hopwood, Lumley or Meek (& I dont believe the Bugler ever had a name)?! This Tin was produced by Kemps Biscuits Limited of Great Coates, Grimsby, Lincolnshire,England - a Company which was eventually bought out by United Biscuits in around 1972 to hold Nett Weight of 3lbs of Biscuits. Prized amongst collectors of Camberwick Green memorabilia, Trumptonalia enthusiasts & Collectors of Retro British Advertising Condition:Considering its age - its in pretty well cared for condition - the edges of the lid have rubbed away on the higher profile shaping (as expected when being stacked), few dings & scratches (original sellotape still visible around edge of lid) - all issues you would expect to find in a Tin thats almost 60 years old! Measures Approx 8" x 9" - 4" deep (with lid on) Colours still sharp This fabulous tin has been with me for many, many years & I shall be very sad to let it go - but it needs to find a new loving home that will appreciate this iconic British Children's TV Series & its memorabilia.
