I love my garden & enjoy growing many flowers from seed. Flowers are a great balancer for me: planting flower seeds gives me hope for the future, & watching flowers fade & produce new seeds throughout a season instils in me a calmness that there will always be new opportunities for my own growth through times when things might appear challenging. Audrey Hepburn’s famous quote, “To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow”, is a timeless expression of hope, optimism, & looking forward to the future. That is why I get so much pleasure in making these beautiful leather flower brooches (that can adorn outfits, handbags or lanyards) with butterfly clutch pins. It is no accident that the pins are butterfly clasps - it is a conscious decision - as with the majority of a creative’s work - butterflies are also a symbol of significance. Butterflies are universal symbols of transformation, personal growth, & the human soul. Transformation: Their life cycle from caterpillar to chrysalis & winged adult mirrors deep personal change & metamorphosis, our transformations throughout life. Long-migrating species like the monarch represent survival, endurance against harsh odds, & optimism. These are riveted - again a show of strength - no glue is used in the making of these brooches.
